The problem
LIKE queries on a growing catalog could not serve 50k+ daily active items. Filters timed out, vendors blamed the storefront, and bounce rate followed search lag.
Architecture
Laravel as the system of record; Elasticsearch for catalog search and aggregations; Vue storefront hitting a dedicated search API. Index jobs run on Redis queues so publishes never block checkout.
Outcome
Catalog pages load under 1.2 seconds with 50k+ daily active items. Filters no longer time out at peak.
Handover
Search mappings, index jobs, and source ownership transferred with the repo.
